MACOMB, ILL. -- The Macomb School District has severed ties with the boy's head basketball coach accused of sexual abuse.

Dan Watson faces a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly having relations with a teenage student. Click here to read our original story.

According to Tri-State Public Radio, Monday night the Macomb School Board approved a resignation agreement with Watson, and rescinded the district's an earlier notice of termination.

Under the agreement, his resignation took effect in December with the district paying him to cover the time period he was on unpaid administrative leave.

Watson has pleaded not guilty to the sex abuse charge and is scheduled to be back in court in March 13.

If convicted, he could face three to seven years in prison.
