HANNIBAL, MO. -- Missouri democrats flooded Hannibal this weekend for its 41st annual Democrat Days.
Hundreds of people made their way into Hannibal Inn Saturday to hear about party goals and initiatives from state leaders. U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill was the keynote speaker Saturday.
McCaskill says corn and beans are a big commodity in Northeast Missouri and wonders why lawmakers are so eager to pull money from alternative fuels, according to the Quincy Journal.
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon and U.S. Representative Russ Carnahan among other state officials were also in attendance.
Local democratic candidates, labor unions, and other organizations hosted informational sessions at the event. Organizers hope attendees were able to have the opportunity to not only become informed, but united.
