HENDERSON COUNTY, ILL. -- A Lomax, Ill. woman died as the result of a rollover crash near Dallas City Saturday afternoon.

Sandra K. Wysong, 69, was the front passenger of a vehicle driven by 51-year-old Susan M. Phillips, of Dallas City.

The Illinois State Police confirmed Phillips was westbound on IL 96 at Camp Creek when she lost control of her 1996 Ford Explorer and ran off the right side of the road. The vehicle rolled several times. Wysong was ejected from her seat and pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Phillips suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Blessing Hospital by helicopter. Her condition was upgraded from serious to fair Monday, according to a hospital spokesman. She remains in the intensive care unit.

Phillips was charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
