ADAMS COUNTY, ILL. -- The Illinois Department of Transportation informed the The Adams County Highway Department that the County Highway 7 bridge at East 500th Street, North Bottom Road has a structural problem and the bridge will be closed Wednesday, March 14.
The Adams County Highway Department is currently taking action to address the structural problem in order to reopen the bridge.
The necessary repair design, IDOT approval, material acquisition and installation of the repair may take 4 to 6 weeks to complete. The time to complete the repair is dependent upon the availability of materials and weather conditions.
The cost of the repair is unknown so the Adams County Board has been asked to waive the normal bidding procedures for the emergency repair to allow the Highway Department to select a contractor to complete the work required.
There will be no marked detours for the closure at this time.
Drivers hauling loads to the Ursa Farmers CoOP elevator in Meyer should be aware that some off system roadways in the area are load posted through April 15 and it is recommended that grain traffic use IL 96 to Lima, then west to the Bottom Road to get to the Meyer elevator.
