QUINCY, ILL. -- Hundreds turned out for the premiere of Hunger Games at midnight.

Showcase 6 in Quincy was packed to capacity with fans of the book series who waited in line for the first show at midnight Friday.

There were also midnight showings at the B and B Main Street Cinema in Hannibal.

The Hunger Games is based on a novel in which children fight to the death on live TV in a post-apocalyptic world.

It's expected make $120 million in ticket sales this weekend.

Fandango says ticket sales have surpassed pre-sale levels for the first Twilight film.
