Highway Patrol and emergency crews are responding to a jackknifed semi in the northbound lane of U.S. 61 at the Highway 24 split near Taylor, Mo., according to Marion County 911 director Mike Hall.

The crash occurred about 3:35 p.m. Friday.

The driver of the semi missed the exit for northbound 61 and when he tried to make the turn on the wet pavement, his truck jackknifed and went into the ditch.

The unidentified driver was taken to the hospital complaining of chest pain related to the crash, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol. It is unclear, at this time, which hospital the driver was taken to.

Several gallons of diesel fuel also spilled.

Traffic could be shut down for several hours as crews work to remove the semi.

KHQA will have more information on the crash as it becomes available.
