QUINCY, ILL. -- The owner of a nuisance structure in Quincy is now filing an order of protection against the city.

An attorney for Donald Weinberg who owns the Quincy Paper Box building on North Third has filed a motion to prevent the city from collecting attorney fees and court costs related to litigation surrounding the building.

According to the motion, the city wants Weinberg pay the city's cost of 25 thousand dollars to repair the building and all legal fees associated with trying to get the building fixed.

The building fell into disrepair over the years and had become a safety hazard.

We reported in September of 2011 that the council approved the low bid of $420 per window unit from A M Painting out of Loraine through the city's fix or flatten program. Click here for that original story.
