KEOKUK, IA. -- A historic part of Keokuk's Kilbourne Park could be making its way back to the playground.

Interested community members met April 29th, 2012 to discuss how much it would cost to bring the city's original rocket slide up to code.

The slide was removed from Kilbourne Park in 2009 after the city's insurance company said it no longer complied with safety standards. That same year, the city purchased an

up-to-code rocket slide.

The original rocket slide is owned by Nels Olsen, who restored it on the History Channel show, "American Restoration." But because the slide was restored to its original structure, it is still not compliant.

According to the Daily Gate, Olsen said he was willing to sell the slide back to city. To read the full article, click here.
