GALESBURG, ILL. (AP) -- Knox College plans to celebrate the installation of Teresa Amott as the 19th president and the first woman to lead the 175-year-old school.
The private college in Galesburg will hold the official ceremony on Saturday for Amott, who took over as Knox's president last year.
The (Galesburg) Register-Mail (http://bit.ly/Ih0bLV ) reports that Amott previously was provost and a dean at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y. She also served as vice provost at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa., from 2000 to 2005.
Amott has a Ph.D. in economics from Boston College and a bachelor of arts from Smith College.
