Tobacco relabeled to avoid higher tax

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin is upset with the results of a new Centers for Disease Control report that claims the tobacco industry is involved in some underhanded practices.

The report says that the industry is avoiding a higher tax by relabeling roll-your-own tobacco as pipe tobacco.

According to the CDC report, that has resulted in a loss of 1.3 billion dollars in state and federal tax revenue.

The Senator was especially upset because these actions were directly thwarting the efforts to help americans stop smoking.
