ADAMS CO., ILL. -- The Adams County Board gave tentative approval to a non-binding resolution to put concealed carry on the November ballot Tuesday night.

That means it would allow voters to show their support for a concealed weapons law in Illinois, but would not make it legal to carry.

Our news partner WTAD reports that the board decided to send the proposal to the county attorney and the Legislative and Judicial committee to be reviewed before it goes on the ballot.

If it does go on the ballot it would not be an ordinance with any legal authority. It would simply advise the Illinois legislature on where the county stands on the issue.

The County Board also approved a salary freeze for all elected officials who will take office after November.

It also voted yes on a taking out a 1 million dollar line of credit from First Banker's Trust to cover expected shortfalls in the county general fund.

With continuing cash flow problems that could likely occur sometime in June.

The board also approved an agreement with Coast2Coast RX Card that will allow the company to offer free prescription card to people who are uninsured or underinsured in the county.

The county would get $1.25 for each prescription filled using the card.

The card would be free and residents could save about 45% over the retail cost of prescriptions.
