An army of volunteers helped out Friday at Hannibal LaGrange University as they began  to transfer all of the items from the old library over to the new Roland library.

The Missouri National Guard even brought some volunteers of their own.

80,000 books were at the top of the list to be brought over to the new library.

A system was put  in place to make sure the books were transferred in order from one section of the old library to where they belong in the new facility.

"The move is everything is in order, everything stays in order as much as possible. And in a move this big, there are a few mix-ups but we have all the boxes numbered in order and separated by what part of the collection that they're in. And they they're sorted again over at the other building to make sure they're staying in order and then sorted a third time to make sure they get on the shelf in correct order," Julie Andresen, the HLGU Library Director said.

The new library is named after Dr. Earl Roland who was a graduate of HLGU in 1941.
