QUINCY, ILL. -- Tri-State residents got up close and personal with their local emergency responders Sunday in Quincy.

Tours through fire trucks, ambulances and an Air Evac helicopter were all a part of National EMS Day.

"This is essentially a chance for us to celebrate all our EMTs and paramedics, but not just that, all the people who provide emergency medical services along with us. Whether it be AirEvac, Adams County Emergency First Responders, the Sheriff Departments, the Fire Departments, all of the people who are partners in Emergency medical services," Adams County EMS Director Paul Davis said.

The annual event on the Quincy Mall parking lot helps young children realize the benefits of seeing law enforcement and other emergency responders before a true emergency happens. Davis says this event helps take away the fear that might come during those critical moments.

During the day's events, Davis presented medics Allen Stotts and Bill Ballard with a Dedication to Service award as well as Mike Smith for his 20 years of service this month.
