Imagine running 40 miles in one day. Now imagine running 40 miles in one day seven days a week.
This is exactly what one San Jose, California man is doing to run across the United States in just 97 days. It is all to raise money for the fight against cancer.
23-year-old Ethan Bennett started his 3,289 mile "The Run To Fight" across the United States on April 21 from Bennett Park, New York City.
His goal is to make it to California by July 29, but his running does not end there. In fact, Ethan chose the July 29 deadline in hopes to run the San Francisco marathon upon his arrival to Cali. So what prompted his dedication?
"I lost my mom to cancer when I was in high school, when I was 17." Ethan said. "Just the experience, going through that, I started as a way to deal with the stress. I actually hated running before believe it or not. So I would just go out and do 2 to 3 miles, and eventually worked up to a half marathon, and then a full marathon, and now this."
Ethan said the hardest part so far about his monumental journey is dealing with and adapting to all of the injuries.
Along his route, Ethan stops at schools and hospitals to share his mission and raise $500,00 for Livestrong and cancer research.
