A fire in downtown Wayland, Missouri

WAYLAND, MO. -- UPDATED: June 2 at 10:46 p.m.

The fire that destroyed an empty building in downtown Wayland, Missouri has been officially ruled as an arson.

No suspects are in custody at this time.

The fire broke out late last Wednesday night and took several hours to put out.

The building was a complete loss.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal's office is still investigating the fire and asks anyone with any information to contact the Clark CountySheriff's Office at (660) 727-2911

ORIGINAL STORY: May 31 at 5:22 a.m.

A fire in downtown Wayland, Missouri has destroyed an empty building.

Firefighters were called to an abandoned building late Wednesday night.

We have confirmed with the Clark County Sheriff's Department that an investigation is underway into the cause of the fire.

Unconfirmed reports have come in that it was in the old drug store.

We'll continue to follow the story as it develops.
