QUINCY, ILL. -- Saturday marked a monumental memory for one Quincy church.

Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church celebrated the 100th anniversary of its blessing and dedication.

The church held a special 10 a.m. mass to mark the occasion.

Saint Rose was reopened in 2008 after being closed for three years.

It's the first church in the Springfield diocese to resume the traditional Latin Mass.

"The fact that this church was reopened was great because it's a landmark of the city," Father Arnaud Devillers, Saint Rose of Lima Chaplain said. "Many people, even though they don't come here anymore to mass, have been raised in this parish and have come to school or have been members of this parish at some point in their life."

The celebration also included an organ recital and a dinner and comedy show later in the evening.
