QUINCY, ILL. -- A committee that's deciding the fate of the Gardner Museum of Architecture and Design is seeking public input on the future of the former museum.

A loss of funding forced the museum to close in March and all of its assets were transferred to the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County.

A committee will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday to seek input on what exactly should be done with the building located at 332 Maine St.

“Our board would like to continue the mission of the museum if public support is there to sustain it,” HSQAC executive Reg Ankrom said in a press release statement, “ Sort of that, the committee is looking for ways to keep the property open, in which case, at least a portion of the story of Quincy's architectural heritage can be told.
