White squirrels a sight in Fort Madison

FORT MADISON, IOWA -- Folks in the city limits are spotting white squirrels all over town.

According to the Fort Madison Daily Democrat, some people have seen them around Avenue F. 

All-white squirrels are rare to see in most places, but they don't belong to a separate species. They are Eastern Grey Squirrels that happen to be white. Click here to read more.

That genetic trait is then passed on to descendents - making one in four squirrels white.
