Hannibal residents die in New Mexico accident

TUCUMCARI, NM -- Two Hannibal residents died early Thursday morning in a one-vehicle crash in New Mexico.

The Quay County Sun reports the accident happened when the driver fell asleep while traveling west on Interstate 40 just before 6 a.m.

The vehicle overturned several times, ejecting two of its 5 passengers.

29-year-old Jonathan Hart and 43-year-old Carla Boss of Hannibal were pronounced dead at the scene.

27-year-old Rachelle Geib and a 12-year-old girl were both in critical condition and flown to a nearby hospital in Albuquerque.

A 2-year-old, who was in a child safety seat, was taken to another hospital in stable condition.
