MILTON, ILL. -- The driver in a fatal ATV crash in Pike County, Ill. is behind bars this weekend with a D.U.I.
The crash happened shortly after 11 p.m. Friday in rural Milton, Ill. The Pike County Sheriff's Department said Caitlin M. Kirschenman, 27, of Belleville, Ill. was transported to Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield where she was pronounced dead from injuries resulting from the ATV crash.
Kirschenman was the passenger on a Kawasaki four-wheeler that overturned. The ATV landed on top of both Kirschenman and the driver, Thomas R. Druhe, 24, of Granite City, Ill. Authorities at the scene determined Druhe was driving along a bean field when he struck a pile of logs in the grass.
He was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and released to Illini Community Hospital.
UPDATE: According to the Belleville News-Democrat, funeral arrangements for Kirschenman are pending at Schildknecht Funeral Home, in O'Fallon.
