QUINCY, ILL. -- The annual Father's Day Fly In/Drive In Breakfast was held Sunday at the Quincy Regional Airport and it was more than just a day geared towards dad.

"It's great because of the options you have," Herb Wand, Father's Day Fly In/Drive In Breakfast attendee said. "You get breakfast, the kids get to ride in the plane and it's a great bonding moment."

This was Wand's first time going to the Fly In/Drive In Breakfast and as an aircraft lover, he was excited about the event, but was even more thrilled when he heard his kids were, too.

"The kids love the planes, they couldn't wait to get here, they started asking me last night before bed time to get here," Herb said.

"I also like planes like my dad and me and my sister were excited to ride the planes and look at them," Logan Wand, a new member of the Experimental Aircraft Association Young Eagles Program said.

The Fly In Breakfast has been hosted by the local Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) for over thirty years and draws in pilots and kids from all over the Tri-States. The organization also held its EAA Young Eagles Program which gives first time flights to young people ages 8 to 17.

"So many of the kids get stuck behind video games and that sort of thing these days and it's nice for them to get out and see the real thing," Andrew Skattebo, Quincy EAA Chapter president said. "This is not a flight simulator it's even better."

And what could better then spending the day with dad doing something you both love?

"When we come here, we get a bond and look at planes together and listen about them and stuff," Logan said.
