QUINCY, ILL. -- A Quincy man is waking up in jail after leading police on a chase through the city, damaging property along the way.

At around 1:15 a.m. Monday, a Quincy police officer spotted 23-year-old Cory Scott Calvin committing a traffic violation in a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban at 12^th and Hampshire. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle at 8^th and Hampshire but the driver refused to pull over.

The driver disobeyed several traffic control devices in the downtown area before heading east on Maine Street at a high rate of speed. Other officers were alerted to the situation and were eventually able to track the vehicle to the area of 30^th and Lincoln Hill. There, the driver drove through a yard and struck a light pole before continuing north on 30^th Street at about 20 mph. The vehicle ran out of gas on 30^th street just south of Broadway. That's when police arrested Calvin.

Calvin was arrested for aggravated fleeing to elude police, DUI, and numerous traffic violations. Calvin was lodged in the Adam’s County Jail pending an initial court appearance.

No one was injured during the incident and Calvin was the only occupant of the vehicle.
