PIKE COUNTY, MO. -- An Eolia man is lucky to be alive after a close encounter with a train early Sunday.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports around 1:15 in the morning, 40-year-old Devlon Walker was driving on a gravel path parallel to train tracks in Pike County, Missouri when he attempted to cross the tracks in an area not designated as a crossing zone.

That's when his truck became stuck in the gravel as a train approached and hit the front passenger side of the vehicle.

Walker took on moderate injuries in the crash and was transported to Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana.
