16-year-old arrested for Friday night shooting

BURLINGTON, IOWA -- A 16-year-old has been arrested for a weekend shooting in Burlington that put an 18-year-old man in the hospital.

Mark Hausan Trotter was arrested for the friday night shooting of Jorge Luis Sanders-Galvez near the area of Main and Valley Street.

Police say the shooting took place just before 9:30 p.m. Friday. That's when they found Jorge Luis Sanders-Galvez with a single gunshot wound, but said he was responsive and conscious at the time.

Burlington police recovered a stolen handgun that was believed to be used in the shooting.

Trotter is facing several charges including two felony warrants for attempted murder.

He is being held on $35,000  bond.

At last report, Sanders-Galvez is still hospitalized at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
