Program would not be fair to all students

QUINCY,ILL. -- Three weeks ago the Quincy school board decided against a plan that would allow entire buildings with high poverty levels to become eligible for free meals paid by the federal government.

After much discussion at Wednesday night's meeting, the board stuck to it's original decision and voted against the program for the district.

Several community members voiced their opinions on the issue.

There was also some confusion as to just who would benefit from the program.

Several school board members pointed out some of the unfair aspects of the program and that seemed to satisfy the audience and turn more support towards the school board position.

In the end the school board voted unanimously not to approve the program for the district.
