QUINCY, ILL. -- Police arrested a Quincy man Friday night for allegedly striking a three-year-old in the face.

Deputies responded to 1116 Rim Rd. just before 8:30 p.m. regarding the alleged attack. The caller reported the child's father was running from the suspect wielding a hammer outside the residence.

Upon arrival, deputies found the suspect, 45-year-old David E. Hagan, of Quincy, inside the residence. The remaining parties were waiting outside for law enforcement.

Hagan voluntarily came outside where he was arrested without incident. No one involved needed medical attention.

Hagan remains lodged in the Adams County Jail awaiting his first court appearance on Monday, July 16. The hammer used was recovered at the scene.
