LEE COUNTY, IOWA -- Twenty-two organizations in Lee County got a big boost from the Lee County Charitable Fund.

The Fort Madison Daily Democrat reports that the fund is designed to improve and enhance the lives of the people in the county.

The money is distributed through the Vision Iowa Funds.

Seventy-five percent of the funds have to be distributed within the calendar year.

The remaining money goes into an endowment fund to be used in future distributions.

Every county in the state that does not have a casino license receives the money from the fund.

Some of the agencies that benefited include: The Fort Madision Area Untied Way, Keokuk Area Hospital Foundation and Tri State Coalition Against Domestic & Child Abuse.
