QUINCY, ILL. -- Adams County Health Department Director Nancy Bluhm will leave her position later this year.

Bluhm submitted her resignation to the Adams County Health Board at Wednesday's meeting.

In an interview Thursday, Bluhm said the board hopes to fill the position by mid-September. She will stay on until the year's end to help train her successor.

Bluhm said that she is leaving because her husband recently accepted a job in Springfield, Mo.

The board will begin a national search for a new director to fill the $90,000 position. They will accept resumes until Aug. 17.

"Since I'm willing to stay, they aren't in a position to need someone to serve as the interim director," she said.

Bluhm has worked with the agency for 26 years. She's served as administrator for 17.
