Union employees at a Keokuk-based auto-parts supplier accepted the company's second contract offer.

United Steel Workers Local 444 met Friday to discuss and vote on Henniges Automotive's latest contract offer. The workers rejected the company's original July 10 offer.

The union employees have been working under the terms of their expired contract ever since.

Details of the deal reached shortly after 4 p.m. were not immediately available.

Henniges Automotive has owned the Keokuk plant since 2007.

The company employs about 500 at the southeast Iowa location, 425 of which are represented by the International Steel Worker Union Local 444. The company employs 4,800 people worldwide with facilities in the United States, Mexico, Europe and China.

The Iowa plant manufactures rubber sealing systems and is a rubber mixing center. It sells its products to major automobile manufacturers.
