WARSAW, ILL. -- The Hancock County Illinois Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate a case where entry was made to the Warsaw High School and about $5,000 worth of damage was done to computer's, televisions and copy machines.

The vandalism was discovered last Thursday.

School superintendent Matt Runge says the district had a similar incident in April 2012 and now measures have been taken to catch anyone else who enters the school illegally.

"One thing we're being more diligent about is checking doors and windows and making sure everything is locked at the end of the day. Also we've installed security cameras in strategic places, so we really like those measures will keep this from happening again," Runge said.

Runge said it looks like nothing was taken during the incident. But the person or persons who entered the building made their way from the ag area in the basement of the school all the way to the second floor of the building to where the computer lab is located.

"Well I guess disappointment comes to mind, I'm disappointed that somebody would do this to their school. It's frustrating because it costs taxpayers money, it takes a lot of time for the cleanup, and of course the cost for replacement, so very disappointing," Runge said.

Right now, there isn't a reward being offered. Runge said he would like the police to be able to complete their investigation and see what evidence is turned up from that before going ahead with a reward for any information that would possible lead to an arrest.
