QUINCY, ILL. -- The Illinois Department of Agriculture is challenging you.

The department launched The Buy Illinois Challenge.

The challenge is for your household to dedicate $10 of your weekly grocery budget towards Illinois products.

The department says if the challenge is met, $47 million will be re-invested in the Illinois economy.

That's over $2.4 billion annually.

Local businesses have already taken the pledge.

County Market and Prince Agri Products in Quincy are now displaying the Illinois Product logo.

"The idea is to create some awareness and create some support for those businesses that actual are producing in Illinois," Illinois Department of Agriculture Director, Bob Flider said. "We want to see them become stronger and see them succeed and we want to see them grow and hopefully employ more people."

So are you up for the challenge? Take the The Buy Illinois pledge here.
