State crime units investigate Saturday fire in Brown County church

COOPERSTOWN, ILL. -- State crime investigators continue to look into what happened inside a rural Brown County church Saturday night.

Reports of smoke coming from LaGrange Chapel in Cooperstown, Illinois came into the sheriff's department around 5 o'clock.

Fire crews extinguished a small fire, but were unable to confirm how it began.

Chief Deputy Scott Floyd says the fire appeared suspicious.The Illinois State Fire Marshal, Illinois State Crime Scene Technicians and the Illinois Department of Criminal Investigations arrived on scene late Saturday night to investigate.
