CARTHAGE, ILL. -- Hancock County will ask voters for more money for their ambulance district.

According to Tri-State Public Radio, the County Board plans to put a referendum on the November ballot to raise the ambulance service property tax rate by 15 cents per $100 assessed valuation.  The current tax is ten cents per $100 assessed valuation.

The Board says the county needs more money to support ambulance services in the district.

Nauvoo and LaHarpe provide their own ambulance services and would not be subject to the increase.
