HANNIBAL, MO. -- Hannibal Republicans gathered to wait for primary results to come in Tuesday night.
There were several hot button issues on the ballot that the people we spoke to were very concerned about.
One of the biggest concerns was getting a solid Republican candidate to take on U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill in November.
We asked some of the members why they think it's time for somebody else to take over that job.
"She voted for Obama Care although the people of Missouri voted against it. We need to have someone that's gonna follow what the people of Missouri wants and represent us and our needs and not what the party wants," Earl Cox said.
"She's voted for a lot of big spending so we want a conservative senator," Mary Lou Callicot said.
"She's gonna live or die with the President, I think," Harry Graves said. "So of course our candidate has to be somebody that looks like a responsible, level headed person who can express that, express good plans to the public."
We also asked what qualities their candidate will need to remove Governor Jay Nixon from the state's top job.
"I believe the Republican nominee needs to be a faithful Republican," Tom Locket said. "In other words, believe and support smaller government, allowing the free market to work and promote job growth."
"I think that in Missouri the best candidate is gonna be the person who can create jobs and I think we need a candidate with a proven track record of jobs creation and so I think Dave Spence is that candidate," Wells Pettibone said.
"I like Dave Spence. I think he's trying to, he's had business experience, he knows what it takes to meet payroll and so I think we need some people with some business experience," Geri Graves said.
