OTTUMWA, IOWA -- A longtime favorite at Quincy Raceways has died after a tragic car accident Tuesday.

44-year-old Charles Haffer Jr. of St. Peters, also known as "Photo Billy" was killed when the car he was riding in was rear-ended by a semi truck near Ottumwa, Iowa.

His longtime sidekick and other passenger in that car, 47-year-old Tony Penberthy of St. Louis also died.

The Iowa State Patrol reports at 1:14 a.m. Tuesday morning, 58-year-old Steven Searls of Auburndale, Florida was driving a semi truck east on Highway 63 at exit 40 when he rear-ended a Pontiac Sunfire driven by 50-year-old Robert Lindsey of O'Fallon, Mo. Investigators say the car was traveling slowly due to mechanical problems.

Both of Lindsey's passengers, Haffer and Penberthy, were killed. Lindsey was injured and taken to Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

According to the patrol, none of the men in the car were wearing their seat belts.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri is handling funeral Arrangements for Haffer.

Visitation is Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Mo.  Another visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hutson Funeral Home, with the Funeral at 2 p.m.
