QUINCY, ILL. -- You know you're not supposed to text and drive, but sometimes answering a phone call can be just as dangerous.
There's new technology out that shuts off your ability, or your child's ability, to make a phone call or send and receive texts once the car is in motion.
Cell Control costs about $105.00 dollars and will work with Android and Blackberry phones.
The company is working on a deal with Apple so it would work with iPhones too.
If someone sends you a text while driving, that person gets a text back that says you are driving and you will respond to them when it's safe.
You can still receive phone calls if your car is equipped with blue tooth capabilities.
"It's pretty easy to install. There's a little box you plug right into the diagnostic connector of your vehicle. Most vehicles from 1996 and newer have the same data port, so you plug it in. It takes about ten minutes to set the account up online," Mike Mihauser, the owner of Accurate Home Audio in Quincy said.
There may be a monthly service charge though.
It's free for one phone number, but if you share a car with someone, you can program several numbers for around $6.00 a month.
