QUINCY, ILL. (AP) -- Western Illinois authorities say they're still searching for an escaped Adams County jail inmate who broke out of the jail more than a week ago.
Jose Olmeda and Robert Carr overpowered two guards and broke out of the jail during a nightly lock-down December 15.
Carr was arrested about 12 hours later, but Olmeda hasn't been found.
He was in jail awaiting trial on a drug trafficking charge.
Sheriff Brent Fischer says the jail has 22 guards, two less than the 24 recommended by the state.
Fischer says there's usually are no problems locking down the jail each evening, but he's reviewing protocol and says the facility is safe.
