KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Two Memphis, Mo. men are in custody after being accused of attacking and robbing a man early Saturday morning near the Wooden Nickel in Kirksville.

22-year-old Chanyel Crow III and 26-year-old Calvin Phillips have been charged with robbery in the second degree, a class B felony, and assault in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor.

According to court papers, the victim alleges that the duo approached him in the alley behind the Wooden Nickel, asked for a lighter, and then head-butted and choked him while checking his pockets for money. The victim said the duo stole $30 and damaged his wrist watch in the process.

Kirksville Police arrested Chanyel Crow and Calvin Phillips at a Kum and Go gas station around 3:15 a.m. Saturday. They are both being held in the Adair County Jail on $75,000 cash only bonds.
