HANNIBAL, MO. -- The weekend long State KC Horseshoe Tournament brought in around 2,500 visitors to Hannibal for the weekend of August 17-19.

Knights of Columbus organizers say that tournament guests have booked up just about every hotel room in town.

500 plus teams showed up for the Saturday tournament which included dozens of horseshoe pits and concessions stands.

This is the first time the Good Shepherd Chapter of the Knights of Columbus have hosted the tournament since 1994.

The event raises thousands of dollars which are distributed to local charities throughout the year.

"The number one order of the Knights of Columbus is charity, and that's what it's all about. It started 32 years ago and we've enjoyed ourselves but we want to give back to the community, we want to give back to the city of Hannibal, we want to give back to the people in need. That's what this is all about," Tournament Chairman Bill Fisher said.

The tournament concludes Sunday afternoon with trophy rounds.
