SEDALIA, MO. -- In all, six people were injured after two separate crashes at the Missouri State Fair.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers said two women from California, Mo. who were hurt in one of the Sunday night crashes at the State Fair are expected to be released from the hospital Monday afternoon. The 57-year-old Columbia man who was also hurt in that same crash is listed in serious but stable condition.

A 15-year-old Carrollton resident who lost control of the vehicle he was driving earlier in the day is also listed in serious but stable condition.

The Sedalia Democrat reported Sunday night at around 8:15, that the 15-year-old Carrollton resident lost control of the vehicle he was driving and overturned several times. He was life flighted to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The second crash was during the last of the races at the fair, a charity race called Battle of the Badges.

Old police cars were being used in the race when one of the cars went out of control a little after 9 p.m.

The Sedalia Democrat reported that three people, a 57-year-old man from Columbia, a 33-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman both from California, Mo., were life flighted to area hospitals with serious injuries.

Two others, a 67-year-old man and a 46-year-old man, both from Columbia, were treated and released at the scene.

"One of the race car drivers lost control, the vehicle traveled off the track and struck five spectators,  three of which had sever injuries, two of which sustained minor injuries, area hospitals," Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Collin Stosberg said.

The Sedalia Democrat also reported the race was called off by the fair director at about 10 p.m. Sunday due to the "severity of injuries" and participants were given vouchers for a future race.

Sunday was law enforcement day at the fair and the grand finale, the Battle of the Badges race, was held in support of the Missouri law enforcement torch run and Special Olympics.
