WIU emphasizes student safety after alleged campus assault

MACOMB, ILL. -- The WIU Office of Public Safety and the Macomb Police Department are encouraging students, staff and vistors to the school to use common sense and good judgment when traveling to and from any destination in and around the campus.

This comes after the reported sexual assault of a students this weekend.

Students are encouraged to travel in groups and let friends know where they are going and who they are going with.

Everyone is advised to also take advantage the the 48 emergency call boxes that are posted in and around the campus.

Once a call box is activated Public Safety officers will immediately respond to that location.
