Rain means good news for some burn bans

What was left of Hurricane Isaac breezed through the Tri-States over the holiday weekend and many area communities saw more than four inches of rain.

Shelby County Missouri has lifted the burn ban put in place during drought conditions.

The Pike County Commission would like to announce that due to the significant amount of rainfall received over the weekend, the burn ban for Pike County, Mo. has been lifted.

The City of Macon and the Macon Fire Department has announced that the burn ban for the City of Macon has been lifted as well.

The Hannibal Fire Department has also lifted the burn ban for the city of Hannibal, although, citizens are reminded that they must still follow all the rules of the city ordinance in reference to burning. That information is available by clicking here.

The Hannibal Rural Fire Protection District has also lifted its ban that has been in place since July.

The Missouri Department of Conservation issued a fire ban in June for its public properties because of the hot, dry summer. The department has now lifted that burn ban for all of the nearly 1,000 conservation areas that it manages.

The Corp of Engineers has lifted the burn ban at Mark Twain Lake that went into effect in early July.
