MONROE COUNTY, MO. -- Three people, including an infant, were hospitalized Wednesday after a police chase in Monroe County.

The pursuit began about 9:50 p.m. near the intersection of Oak and Hope streets, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported.

An officer tried to stop a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by John Fogle, 28, of Hannibal. Monroe City Police Chief Darren Freidank said Fogle was driving with license plates that did not match the sport utility vehicle.

After a short pursuit, Fogle's SUV left the roadway and struck a tree.

Baby Hannah Ruby, age not known, William Ruby, 20, and Brooklyn Schaller, 20, were all taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital as a precaution. There were no serious injuries reported.

Fogle is being held in the Monroe County Jail. Freidank expects to file charges Friday.
