Pearl Gamble given key to the city

QUINCY, ILL. -- Vintage go-cart lovers got a special treat Friday night.

This weekend marks the 11th annual Vintage Kart Olympics and each year the event honors an outstanding person in the sport.

This year's honoree is 76-year-old Pearl Gamble who was presented the key to the city by Quincy Mayor John Spring.

Gamble has been involved in kart racing since 1960.

In 1965 he ran his first national race right here in Quincy.

Pearl Gamble was inducted into the World Karting Association Hall of Fame in 1995.

The Karting Olympics run through Sunday at T-N-T Kartways in West Quincy, Missouri.
