QUINCY, ILL. -- A two vehicle crash stalled traffic at 29th and Broadway in Quincy Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. and involved an Adams County deputy in a sheriff's vehicle.

The Illinois State Police says Kevin Dyer, of Pittsfield, was westbound on Broadway in the center turning lane waiting to turn into a private drive. Eastbound traffic was initially stopped due to the red traffic light at 30th St. Once eastbound traffic began moving again, an unknown driver in the north lane of eastbound traffic gestured for Dyer to turn left in front of its stopped vehicle. Dyer then attempted a left hand turn and collided with a car driven by Adams County Sheriff's Deputy Bradley Parrish, who was eastbound in the south lane of traffic.

Dyer and his passenger were transported via ambulance to Blessing Hospital for treatment. Both vehicles sustained major front end damage. Dyer was cited for failure to yield a left turn.
