Mother strikes, kills child with car

MONTROSE, IOWA -- A 20-month-old Montrose, Iowa girl is dead after her mother backed over her with her car, the Lee County Sheriff's Office said.

Meyah James was playing outside with her 5-year-old sibling and walked up behind her mother's vehicle.

Kayla D. James, 24, pulled the vehicle from the driveway of her 217th Street home. She reversed to return to the home and unwittingly backed over her daughter, police said.
