Blessing-Rieman students educate children about doctor visits

QUINCY, ILL. -- Around 400 families gathered at Blessing Hospital for the 24th annual Teddy Bear Clinic Sunday.

This is a clinic held by the Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing to teach children about the importance of going to the doctor.

Children brought in their favorite stuffed animals to the event to get checked over by a nurse.

At the clinic, junior and senior nursing students at Blessing-Rieman held stations with lessons about many different aspects of a trip to the doctor. Children were able to give their stuffed animals shots and bandages as well as diagnose their stuffed animals with an ailment.

Some of the stations taught nutrition and hygiene tips as well as medical safety.

Children learned about the importance of brushing their teeth and washing their hands from a medical standpoint.
