QUINCY, ILL. -- Police are asking for your help in finding the person responsible for the death of a Quincy woman.

This weekend, a team of Quincy officers canvassed area neighborhoods around 8th and Ohio Streets, where 48-year-old Nancy Streitmatter was last seen.

Fire investigators found her body on Oct. 8 under debris from a fire the night before at Salvage Lumber, at 219 Oak St. in Quincy.

Due to the suspicious circumstances of the fire and Streitmatter's death, Quincy police are treating the investigation as a homicide. Sgt. John Summers says his department has several persons of interest in the case, all with different motives.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office continues its investigation into the cause of the fire. The police department is also awaiting results from an autopsy for a cause of death.

Quincy Regional Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information regarding the Salvage Lumber fire and Streitmatter's death. If you have any information, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 217-228-4474.
