(AP) -- A convicted murderer is back in the courtroom this week for his second murder trial.

33-year-old Nicholas Sheley was convicted in the 2008 murder of a Galesburg man and faces trials in seven other deaths in Illinois and Missouri.

Opening statements are expected to start Monday in the second murder case.

Sheley pleaded not guilty in the slaying of 93-year-old Russell Reed of Sterling. Prosecutors alleged Sheley killed Reed in his home and stole his wallet and car. His body was later found in the trunk of his car.

Jurors on this case include a certified nursing assistant, a retiree and a farmer.
