QUINCY, ILL. -- Bright lights on the Bayview Bridge are a step closer to becoming a reality.

Monday night, the Quincy City Council passed a resolution that allows the city to interact with the federal government on the project.

The plan is to add LED lighting to the Bayview Bridge.

Quincy has already received a $500,000 grant from the federal government for the project.

Mayor John Spring says he hopes to have the bridge lighting ready to go with a ceremony by next October.

In other meeting action, the council voted to override the Zoning Board of Appeal's motion to deny a second sign at the new Farmers Bank of Liberty on Broadway.
